Top Five Ways to Lighten and Brighten your Skin

pores-face

As we age our skin loses its youthful glow and luster. While skin aging is a natural process,  daily sun exposure can significantly contribute to premature aging, slowing down the turnover of skin cells between healthy new cells and old damaged cells. Here are five sure ways to lighten and brighten your skin and help you restore a radiant youthful glow.

  1. Get a chemical peel. Chemical peels can be very effective at lightening the skin. This treatment effectively treats a host of skin problems including acne, discolorations and fine lines and wrinkles. A chemical solution is applied to the face, which removes the damaged outer layer of skin and unveils softer, smoother, more radiant skin. Most procedures take less than an hour to perform, with minimal discomfort during the treatment. There are a variety of chemical peels offered today and we will work with you to determine the best peel for your skin concerns.
  2. Omnilux Light Theray-
is a technology based on narrowband Light emitting Diodes (LEDs). Omnilux offers treatment for a wide range of dermatological conditions including acne, photodamage, and skin rejuvenation. Some of the advantages of Omnilux™ therapy is that it stimulates the bodies own cellular mechanisms by photomodulation. Also it is not a laser or an IPL so there is no heat, no side effects or downtime. Omnilux is Compatible with existing skin rejuvenation techniques such as Botox™, chemical peels and IPLs.
  3. Dermapen-is a new revolutionary  procedure that uses multiple needles to vertically pierce the skin. This enhances rejuvenation results and is far safer for the client because there is much less epidermal damage. The automatic vibrating function of the Dermapen increases the effectiveness of treatment by increasing absorption of products, while reducing pain and discomfort. Dermapen is just as effective as ablative treatments such as Fraxel, IPL, Laser Resurfacing, and Chemical Peels. The most amazing benefit is that Dermapen’s pricing is a fraction of the leading alternatives.
  4. IPL™ Photorejuvenation IPL™ technology can be used to help restore the skin’s youthful appearance. IPL Quantum SR™ technology is a unique non-ablative procedure that promotes healthy looking skin including the reduction of diffuse redness, reduced pore size and improved skin tone and texture. The procedure creates a gentle warming of the skin, and is truly a “no downtime” procedure. IPL Photorejuvenation can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, such as broken capillaries, skin discoloration, age spots, freckles, mottled pigmentation, and the symptoms of rosacea.
  5. Skin Lightening Products: We recommend Skin Medica’s Lytera® Skin Brightening Complex and Obagi Clear. Both products offer a simple and effective approach to skin brightening. Appropriate for all skin types  The Obagi Nu-Derm® System is an anti-aging therapy that penetrates below the skin’s surface to transform skin cell functions at the cellular level and correct the damage within… revealing healthy, younger-looking skin.
Both Lytera are Clear are topical prescription treatment that  help to correct hyperpigmentation (discoloration) and improve uneven skin tones.

One or a combination of these top five ways to lighten and brighten your skin will bring you noticeable results and help you restore that youthful glow you deserve to have.  To discover which treatment plan is best for your unique skin care needs call us at 763-494-9905 for a complimentary consultation.

How to Cope with Holiday Stress and Embrace the Season

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Young woman wearing Santa's hat is screaming.

Crunch time is here! With December 25th quickly approaching, the final countdown is on and tensions are rising. Yes, some of you are sitting there smugly thinking about how you’re almost completely done with all of your Christmas shopping, wrapping, decorating, baking, etc. BUT for most of us, we are juggling a list in our heads and are scrambling to figure out what in the world to get the kids’ teacher this year and wondering how we will possibly have enough time to get it all done. Breathe. Step back and look at the big picture. This is all supposed to be fun. A season of celebration and joy. We get so caught up in the prep that we miss it sometimes. We rounded up some great tips on managing the holiday stress so you can really embrace the awesome season we’re in and your loved ones, too.

Make a budget and stick to it. Money is one of the major stressors during the holidays. Don’t dig yourself into a hole by overspending. A thoughtful gift doesn’t have to be expensive. If money is tight, suggest a family gift exchange with a spending limit.

Create new traditions. Stressed out by the usual festivities? Try something different. Instead of cooking a huge meal on your own, make it a potluck. Ask adults to bring gag gifts or have a “white elephant” or used book gift exchange. Attend a local holiday concert, walk the neighborhood to look at holiday lights, or go sledding.

Beware of unhealthy stress relievers. Holiday stress causes some people to fall into bad habits such as smoking, drinking, or eating too much. Think about any unhealthy habits you’re prone to and better ways to handle stress.

Make time for your health. In the holiday rush, don’t let your well-being fall by the wayside. Try to stay on your normal sleep schedule and get regular exercise. If you can’t find a 30-minute chunk of time for exercise, break it up into three 10-minute sessions spread through the day.

Accept reality. Don’t expect perfect decorations, a perfect meal, or perfect people. Try to go with the flow and enjoy what you have. Pinterest can make us all feel less-than-good-enough but don’t let it!

Spread love & joy. Focus on what the season is all about, like doing good deeds for others. Be careful to not overload your schedule so that you are spread too thin to do some of these. Brainstorm about how you can brighten someone’s day and it will make you feel good in the process!

Happy Holidays from all of us here at Belladerm Medspa! We look forward to seeing you soon!

5 Things To Get You in the Holiday Spirit

Thursday, December 4th, 2014

It’s the MOST wonderful time of the year, right? That’s what the popular song says and there are definitely certain things that get us into the holiday spirit and ready to shift gears from fall into winter, Christmas trees and presents. Feel free to chime in with more fun ideas of what you’re up to!

Some years, when you hear that first Christmas song playing on the radio, you cringe because you just aren’t ready to face the fact that you only have a set number of shopping days left and you feel overwhelmed with how many things are on your to-do list in the month of December! Then you also are faced with the fact that another year is ending and a new one will begin which leads you to wonder just HOW does time go by so quickly every year? This season sure holds a lot of emotions and we’re all about making merry so let’s focus on ways to ring in that holiday cheer! Beyond the typical decorating and cookie baking, some of the best ways involve what you can do or give to others.  Here are 5 sure ways to get you in the spirit.

  • Along with baking cookies and special treats, also make a tasty meal or two for a family who might be struggling this season or for an elderly neighbor who would appreciate it.
  • Brainstorm with your kids to come up with a list of ideas that you could buy for a family in need. Then, go shopping to get a handful of items on the list that you can afford to pick up. Wrap as a family and deliver together. Maybe sing some carols when you do to add good cheer. Singing always brings smiles.
  • Decorate your office with beautiful, sparkly decor for the holidays. Even if you can only decorate your little cubicle, do it up! You’ll feel more in the spirit! Maybe sneak into work early and surprise a coworker by decorating their work space, too.
  • Other random acts of kindness go a long way, too.  Give up your spot in line at the store, especially to that mom with whining kids who is dying to get out of there. Tape quarters to vending machines to surprise the next person looking for a snack. Buy for the person behind you in the drive-thru line at Starbucks or anywhere you frequent. Just spread goodwill everywhere you go, whenever you can. That is the very best way to get in the holiday spirit!
  • Lastly, consider buying something special for someone you know they would not buy for themselves…like a Belladerm gift certificate! Our promo makes it a perfect time to buy!

Write your comments below if you have any new ideas to add.  We are deeply appreciative of all of you and want to wish you Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! We’ll see you soon!
