Wondering How to Get Rid of Spider Veins?

Approximately 50 to 60 percent of men and women have small purple and red superficial leg veins they'd like to get rid of. These veins, often referred to as spider, varicose, or reticular veins, are mainly a cosmetic issue rather than a health concern. But if you are unhappy with the way they look, you can do something about them with two non-invasive procedures: sclerotherapy and broadband light therapy.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a treatment in which spider veins are injected with a solution called Asclera®. Asclera® (polidocanol) causes superficial leg veins to collapse and fade from view. There is very little discomfort associated with the procedure, but clients are asked to restrain from vigorous activity for the first 24 to 48 hours. Some clients may need to wear compression stockings for three to seven days following the procedure.

BroadBand Light Therapy

While sclerotherapy is still considered the treatment of choice for superficial leg veins, many vessels may be too small to inject, or patients may have an aversion to needles. The BroadBand Light (BBL™) laser system is an alternative method of treatment with no injections, discomfort, or downtime. Broadband light breaks down the vessels so they can be reabsorbed by the body, significantly diminishing the appearance of existing veins.
